Top 5 Break Cues

If last week we looked at the best jump pool cues, today is the turn of the break cues. Breaking is vital to keep the initiative of the game and not give option to the rival. It is therefore important to have a good break cue to provide the first shot: You must have a hard top, a low deflection shaft and balanced weight in order to transmit power and speed to the triangle. With much practice and using any of the five cues that follow, you'll achieve Stratospheric breaks like Shane Van Boening or Ko Pin Yi.

Neils Feijen Predator

1 - Predator BK3 (489 €)

Predator is the reference and make a difference. Its BK3 is probably the best break cue  in the world, so many professional players use it and that’s why it is so expensive. It has design and performance improvements over the previous version, the BK2. It comes with weight distribution Break-Balanced, shaft with carbon fiber reinforcement, Uni-Loc joint and low friction matte finish. It is also available with a smooth grip or sport.

2- Mezz Power Break II (495 €)

The "Power Break II" by Mezz has been designed and manufactured with innovative technology Deep Impact. With a shorter butt, Mezz has reduced the amount of deflection and distortion that occurs at the time of impact. This keeps the power of the player’s hit and transfers it directly to the white ball. Mezz has also developed and incorporated a unique weight adjustment to suit the player's needs. It is available in brown and also black.

3- Cuetec Bullet Break (179€ )

What cue do the best players in the world use? Shane Van Boening uses this Cuetec Bullet Break, his sponsoring brand. It is much cheaper than the two previous options but no less good and the American gets fantastic results with it. This is what Shane says about the cue, made of hard maple and coated with fiberglass: “It has a very soft touch, allowing faster and more powerful stroke, resulting in the best possible break."

4- Longoni TJB (549 €)

Another champion with a breaking cue is Niels Feijen. In this case the Dutch terminator uses the TJB Longoni, whose price is similar to BK3. It is a jump break, and thus besides breaking, it’s used to make jumps. It includes a butt and two shafts (one S2-BRK with hard tip Kamui Black and another jump shaft in maple Pro with phenolic ferrule), and allows three positions depending on the shot: short jump, extended jump and break. It comes with joint Longoni VP2 and a synthetic grip.

5- Players HXTP2 Pure X (279'90 €)

And finally, another recommendation of a global champion, Jennifer Barretta. The break-jump cue Pure X HXTP2 allows full control of the game with three interchangeable quick release joints to choose the perfect shot. It is therefore a block of four pieces with six possible configurations, one of the best value for money options. It comes with Uni-Loc Radial thread, phenolic too and synthetic grip.

Tell us in the comments which cue you use for breaking. Are you planning to renew it? Which one would you buy from these five models?
